Children’s dentistry at our Dum Dum clinic
Most children arrive here for one of two reasons. Either a parent has decided it is time for a first check-up, or a tooth has started hurting and the child has stopped eating properly on one side. The second group is larger, and almost always includes a child who is already frightened.
At Gupta Dental we treat children with the assumption that the first visit shapes every visit after it. Nothing is rushed, instruments are shown before they are used, and a child who needs to stop for a moment gets to stop. Parents stay in the room throughout. Where treatment is needed we explain what is happening and why, and where nothing needs doing we say so plainly.
Why Choose Our Pediatric Dental Care?

Why Early Dental Visits Matter
Children’s dentistry is mostly about preventing problems that are far harder and more expensive to fix later.
Space for the Permanent Teeth Is Held: Milk teeth keep the gap open for the adult teeth behind them. Lose one early and neighbouring teeth drift into the space, which is a common route into braces.
Pain and Lost Sleep Are Avoided: Untreated decay causes genuine pain, disturbed nights and missed school long before a parent sees anything wrong.
The Developing Tooth Is Protected: Infection in a decayed milk tooth can damage the permanent tooth still forming in the bone underneath it.
Dental Fear Never Develops: A child whose first visit is an uneventful check-up at four learns the chair is nothing to worry about. That carries into adulthood.
Habits Are Corrected While It Is Easy: Thumb sucking, mouth breathing and tongue thrusting alter how the jaw develops, and are far simpler to address at five than at twelve.
Bite Problems Are Caught Early: An assessment around seven or eight identifies a developing alignment problem while the jaw is still growing and can still be guided.
Treatments We Offer for Children
First Dental Visit
A gentle examination, a count of the teeth and time to get used to the room.
Check-ups and Cleaning
Every six months, catching small cavities while they are still small and building a proper brushing habit.
Fluoride Application
A quick coating that strengthens enamel against decay. A few minutes, no discomfort.
Dental Sealants
A protective layer over the grooves of the back molars, where food lodges and brushes cannot reach.
Tooth-Coloured Fillings
Placed to stop decay spreading and keep the milk tooth in position until it is due to come out naturally.
Pulpectomy
The children’s equivalent of a root canal, carried out when decay has reached the nerve, so the tooth is saved rather than lost early.
Space Maintainers
Fitted when a milk tooth is lost too soon, holding the gap open so the permanent tooth erupts in the right place.
Habit Counselling
Practical help with thumb sucking, tongue thrusting and mouth breathing, all of which affect jaw and tooth development.
