DENTAL CLINIC — DUM DUM

General Dental Care at our Dum Dum Clinic

General dentistry is the routine half of the work, and it is the half that determines how much of the other half you ever need. A cavity found at a six-monthly check-up is a filling. The same cavity found eighteen months later is a root canal and a crown.

At Gupta Dental a general appointment covers more than the tooth you came in about. We check every tooth, examine the gums, look at how your bite meets, and screen the soft tissues. You are told what needs doing now, what can be watched, and what needs nothing. Where the answer is that your teeth are fine, that is what you will hear.

BENEFITS

Why Regular Dental Visits Are Worth It

Almost everything expensive in dentistry begins as something inexpensive that nobody looked at in time.

  • Small Problems Stay Small: A cavity treated early is a filling. The same tooth left for a year or two becomes root canal treatment and a crown, at several times the cost.
  • Gum Disease Is Caught While Reversible: Early gum inflammation responds to cleaning and better home care. Once bone has been lost, that loss is permanent.
  • Hidden Decay Is Found: Cavities between teeth and under old fillings are invisible to you and often painless until they reach the nerve.
  • Oral Cancer Screening Happens Routinely: The soft tissues are examined at every check-up. Early detection changes outcomes substantially, and tobacco use in any form raises the risk considerably.
  • Wear and Grinding Are Identified: Flattened, chipped or sensitive teeth often point to night grinding, which is far cheaper to manage with a guard than to rebuild afterwards.
  • Emergencies Become Rarer: Most dental emergencies are problems that had been developing quietly for a year or more. Regular visits are what prevent the two o’clock in the morning version.
TREATMENTS

General Dental Treatment

Dental X-rays

Imaging to identify decay between teeth, the state of the bone, and problems below the gum line.

Children’s Check-ups

Routine examinations, cleaning, fluoride and sealants for younger patients.

Night Guards

Custom guards for patients who grind or clench, protecting teeth and easing jaw strain.

Tooth Extraction

Straightforward removal of a tooth that cannot be restored, under local anaesthetic.

Dental Check-up

A full examination of the teeth, gums, bite and soft tissues, with X-rays where they are needed, and a clear account of what was found.

Sensitivity Treatment

Identifying the cause of sensitivity — exposed roots, worn enamel, cracked teeth or grinding — and treating it rather than masking it.

Bad Breath Assessment

Finding the source, which is usually gum-related or from deposits below the gum line, and treating it.

Scaling and Polishing

Removal of hardened plaque and surface stain, recommended every six months for most patients.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a dental check-up cost in Dum Dum?
A routine examination is among the least expensive appointments in dentistry, and across Kolkata typically falls within a few hundred rupees. Scaling and polishing is charged separately and usually sits in the low thousands. Fillings depend on size and position. X-rays are charged per film. You will be told what today's visit costs before it begins, and given an itemised figure for anything further before it is started.
How do I choose a dental clinic in Dum Dum?
Ask what a routine check-up actually includes, because a two-minute look is not an examination. Ask whether the gums are charted and the soft tissues screened. And notice whether you are told that something can wait — a clinic willing to say no treatment is needed today is a clinic worth returning to.
How often should I have a dental check-up?
Every six months for most adults and children. Patients with gum disease, a history of frequent decay, diabetes, or those who smoke are often asked to come more often, and we will tell you if that applies to you rather than applying one interval to everybody.
Do I need a check-up if nothing hurts?
Yes, and that is precisely the point. Decay and gum disease are both painless until they are advanced. By the time a tooth hurts, the inexpensive window for treating it has usually closed.
Are dental X-rays safe?
The radiation dose from a dental X-ray is very low. We take them where the information genuinely changes the diagnosis or treatment — decay between teeth and bone loss below the gum line cannot be assessed any other way — and protective aprons are used.
Why do my gums bleed when I brush?
Healthy gums do not bleed. Bleeding is the earliest sign of gum inflammation, usually caused by plaque along the gum line, and at that stage it reverses with professional cleaning and better home care. Brushing more gently is the wrong response. Have it looked at instead.
